Ipsy Glam Bag Plus | Sept. 2019

Hello Friends!

Ready to see this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag Plus?! πŸ˜€  This month’s bag was definitely more makeup than skincare (3 out of 5 makeup items) to get you ready for that fall glow.

Before we dive in, a little about the Ipsy subscription if you are interested in getting your own.  Ipsy has 3 levels of subscriptions:

  • Regular ($10/month) – 5 deluxe beauty products samples (and sometimes even small full-sized items) plus the cosmetics pouch of the month
  • Plus ($25/month) – 5 full size beauty products (makeup, skincare, tools, etc) – no pouch included with this one
  • Ultimate ($50/month) – newest level – 12 beauty products (8 full-sized and 4 deluxe sample products) AND the cosmetic pouch of the month

If you would like to try out Ipsy’s subscription for yourself (Regular, Plus, or Ultimate), click HERE (personal referral link) to get your very first box.

So now let’s check out what we got in the Plus bag this month (I don’t really have a plan to purchase the Ultimate subscription at this time, but that can always change :-D).

First up we had ILLAMASQUA Antimatter Lipstick in Midnight.  I mainly know of Illamasqua for their nail polish products, but not sure if this is my first makeup product or not.  This shade strikes me as the perfect shade for fall with a deep red lip (although for some reason it’s picking up lighter on camera in the pics).  I took a picture both with and without flash to give you a more accurate depiction of the color.  It did glide on smoothly and did not feel drying when I swatched it for the pic.  This lipstick retails for $27 USD.

Next in the box was CIATE LONDON Extraordinary Translucent Powder.  I’ve previously received this powder in a FabFitFun box and have been using it fairly regularly.  I mainly use it to set my foundation for a matte finish, but it can also be used to bake and set concealer under the eyes.  This powder does not have any fragrance that I’ve noticed since using it and is very finely-milled so no chunks or anything lol.  I left it still sealed for the pic because I’m still using my previous one.  This translucent powder retails for $22 USD.

The third makeup item in this box was the OFRA COSMETICS OFRA x Madison Miller Squad Palette.  This palette’s colors are really nice and is described as giving you a “lit-from-within look in mere minutes.”  While the colors are pretty – which can be used both dry or wet – the palette just did not wow me…especially when I swatched it.  The two highlighter shades were ok, had decent pigmentation, and were fairly smooth to the touch, the middle rosy shade felt chalky and was patchy when swatched.  I don’t typically use highlighter, and the chalky feel of the blush wasn’t great either, so I know I will not be reaching for this palette much, but I’ll give it it’s fair share of trying it in my makeup application before I shelve it πŸ™‚ .  This palette retails for $35 USD.

The next two items in the box were both skincare related.  The first was APTO SKINCARE Antioxidant Mask with Pomegranate.  Ok guys, I’m not gonna keep raggin’ on getting masks all the time because fall and winter are coming, and I don’t know about you, but my face can use all the hydration, moisturizing, soothing, and all the things that masks provide at that time.  This mask (backed by top aestheticians) has azelaic acid which helps to gently remove dead skin cells, while pomegranate and green tea help calm inflammation and restore balance.  This mask retails for $36 USD.

The last skincare product is from a brand that I see often but never really buy, but I do have products from it thanks to my subscription boxes LOL!  GLAMGLOW Tropicalcleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser is formulated with ultra-refreshing TEAOXI Green Tea Leaf, purple clay, goji berries, and acai to gently buff away dull skin cells to reveal a refined and glowing complexion.  This exfoliating cleanser retails for $34 USD.

In total this box is valued at $154 USD…not bad for a $25 investment πŸ˜€ .  What did you guys think of this box?  The skincare products are definitely geared more towards preparing you for fall and winter and what the cold weather does to the skin around this time of year.  Did you get your box this month as well?  What were your favorite products, or which ones you were most excited to receive?  Also, are you already using any of these products already?  If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts about them ❀
